Project Overview:
This project delivered over 7.5 miles of 10” steel main to enhance gas distribution capacity across Berlin and Mussey Townships. Despite record rainfall and repeated flooding at the base station, the Kent Power team maintained progress and ensured system integrity for future grid expansions.
Project Outcomes:
- Installed 10” steel main through active utility rights-of-way cleared by Kent Power crews.
- Completed construction through historically wet conditions – double the area’s typical rainfall.
- Supported a 17-mile urban grid expansion in Grand Rapids and East Grand Rapids, safely managing over 1,150 customer services with minimal community disruption.
- Coordinated up to 10 field crews simultaneously, balancing dense city work zones and residential property preservation.
- Delivered reliable new infrastructure on schedule for year-end system commissioning.
