Project Overview:
To improve grid reliability for local residents during peak summer demand, Kent Power installed a 2 MW portable battery system at the Substation. The project supports system resiliency and provides additional capacity during high-temperature periods that place stress on the electrical network.
Project Outcomes:
- Installed 2 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to stabilize demand during peak load.
- Constructed 58-P1 and 3-024A21 reinforced concrete foundations for equipment support.
- Set one Class 4 distribution pole with integrated control cabinets.
- Installed 8 ground rod locations for system grounding and fault protection.
- Routed and connected all 2” conduits linking battery containers for full electrical continuity.
- Completed installation safely and efficiently to support utility readiness for summer peak demand.
